“We live on an island surrounded by a sea of ignorance. As our island of knowledge grows, so does the shore of our ignorance.” – John Archibald Wheeler
What is it you want to be good at? I want to be good at living well. Generally I think of living well as:
Reading
Running
Writing
I’ve gotten pretty good at those. I’m even getting better at cutting out alcohol (slow but sure). But my blind spot, the item that is so important to me, but just on the edge of my understanding is how I conduct my interpersonal relationships.
Generally I think I’m a good person, someone that people generally have fun around, but I know I get competitive or have a tone, or I can simply be off-putting.
I’m trying so hard to fix this by getting smaller. Be gentle, be kind, don’t be so impervious; be vulnerable.
I need tactics, so I’m using this post to think about the tactics that I can work on.
Listen Actively
Talk Less
Start with Love
Be Vulnerable
Be Kind
So what is your blind spot? Think about what you do well; not your blind spot. Think about what you’re improving at; used to be your blind spot. Think about the area of your life that has eluded you; this is your blind spot.
