Time isn’t Real, You’re Living Your Whole Life at Once

You think now is now yesterday is the past and the future is yet to be written. Consider something different though. You are writing your whole life every moment. The actions you take in this moment are writing your future, shaping your legacy. You’ll never have this moment back, although, in many ways you wrote this moment with all the previous moments. There is challenge and opportunity in that realization. But it also explains a lot about how hard change is, how hard improving your habits is. If you had run regularly every week for the past year, it would be much easier to go for a run right now. But if you didn’t, it’s hard to get off the couch for the first time. Re-writing your future takes that first time.

The person you are today will echo through your lifetime. You want to be a well-respected man of great character in 10 years? Well who do you have to be today to make that a reality? Be that person consistently so you know who you are and feel comfortable in the skin of that person you want to be.

When you think of the character or essence of another person, do you think of the sum of their previous actions, the actions they are currently taking in this moment, or do you think of who they will be in the future? Probably their past actions right? But they’re not dead, you must leave some room for their future, maybe you can see a bright future for them or a trend that isn’t leading them to their full potential.

Taking that all into account, who do you want to be? I suggest you do it for yourself, not to impress anyone else, but what is your purpose, and are you doing what you can be doing in this moment to fulfill your purpose and be the person you want to be?

Enjoy another day of sustainable, consistent, positive habits to create the best version of yourself. You owe it to yourself and it’s a gift to the whole of humanity.
